News & Announcements
January NUT Day & "Walk in
Sister's Shoes"
NUT Day
(No Uniform Today) for January is Monday, January 9th.
Proceeds will go toward "Walk In Sister's Shoes" -
an annual
fundraiser to benefit the St. Katharine Drexel fund for
he Catholic Diocese of
Wichita. Bishop Michael Jaekels
established the fund to help schools in
the diocese
educate the poorest students in their parishes.
The fund was named for Katharine Drexel. Born in 1858 to a wealthy family in the
United States, she lived a life of privilege and wealth that allowed her to
travel the world, but her parents taught her and her sisters about helping those
in need. During a trip to the western United States in 1884, Katharine saw
first hand the poverty of the American Indians, an experience which led to her
lifelong commitment of personal support to help the poor.

February Family of the Month: Joshua & Christi Kirkpatrick
Family
This
year I am recognizing a family for the stewardship they provide for our school.
Of the month of February , I have chosen Joshua and Christi Kirkpatrick. They
have two children: Belle is in 1st grade and Mackayla who is in the 3 year old
Preschool Program.
Christi is currently serving as the President of the St. James Home and School
Association. As part of Home and School activities she sets up and works
the AR store each quarter and helps with the monthly bulletin board in the
hallway, as well as coordinating the School Book Fair during Catholic Schools
Week. She serves a regular hour in the Adoration Chapel and has recently
volunteered time helping with Auction Mailings.
Joshua is a "mean green grillin' machine." He has done the grilling at St. James
school for several special events, as well as helping with kitchen duties during Catholic Schools Week and other fundraising events. He
helps with various Home and School projects, participates in Adoration and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Both Belle and Mackayla participate in fundraisers and service projects for the
school as well.
Joshua and Christi communicate honestly, openly, and go through the right
channels or to the right people. Overall, they both are extremely
supportive of St. James Catholic School. They are great examples and role models
for their children, and excellent models of a Catholic Christian family for our
school and Church community.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE KIRKPATRICK
FAMILY!!.
