A Little About Me
I hail from a faraway land called Tulsa, Oklahoma - you may have heard of it! I am Native American (Cheyenne tribe) and was adopted by my two wonderful parents, Steve and Mary Yates. I also have an older sister, Sarah, who finished Law School last May. I moved to Wichita when I received a Community Leaders Scholarship at Newman University and I am so glad I did! Since then I have served Totus Tuus of Wichita for three summers, DiRT Confirmation Retreat Team and Project Freedom for four years respectively, and worked at Pure & Simple Lifestyle, a college mentoring program for abstinence education. I received the Teacher of Promise award from the Kansas Department of Education in 2010 and feel honored to be called to the profession of teaching. This is my second year of teaching and I feel blessed to be a part of the St. James community!

Discipline: The students lose recess for classroom or school rules broken and receive "brownie" points for good behavior. After they earn 10 points Miss Yates brings them a brownie or other treat.

Homework: Students are to read a book every night with a parent, an adult, or older sibling and practice the sight words given at the first parent night.

Course Study: We will study basic math and reading skills, social skills, and Church behavior. We also attend P.E., Computers, Library, Art, and Music.

Religion & Mass: We attend Mass Tuesday-Friday with our 5th/6th grade buddies. We also visit the Atrium once a week to get a hands-on experience of our faith.
